Building on from our performance in Newnham Short Course the previous Saturday, our aim in this race was to go out all guns blazing and blow up. The commitment was certainly there, but in fast conditions (a rare race-tailwind!) and at high rate, the cracks began to show in our technique. We found a nice rhythm on the Reach, but need to do more front-end work to ensure that the catches stay a) sharp and b) together when we're at high rate. Nevertheless, there was a marked improvement in our time when compared with other crews. In the week that follows, more high-rate and front-end work should set us up nicely for Pembroke Regatta

3rd of 7 M2 Crews (11th overall) in a time of 8:06
A good improvement from our previous showing at Newnham Short Course saw us moving up from 6th to 3rd in the M2 division despite having 3 subs in the boat. Commitment and rate was held well as with the previous race however work on technique and timing still needs to be done - I think this will help us find quite a bit more speed. With two solid results in two weekends things are shaping up nicely for lent bumps in a few weeks time.
